A Class 11 student was killed on Friday after a speeding truck hit the scooter she was riding near Mata Rani Chowk in Ludhiana. The truck driver fled the spot after the accident.The victim was riding the scooter with her father to the railway station to catch a train back to Bihar.The deceased has been identified as 17-year-old Rashmi, a resident of Masia village in Nalanda district of Bihar. Rashmi’s father, Mithilesh, works in Ludhiana. She had come to visit him for Holi celebrations.Mithilesh said that around 7.30 am, when they reached Mata Rani Chowk, a speeding truck hit the scooter from behind, seriously injuring his daughter.An e-rickshaw driver present at the spot tried to take the injured student to a hospital, but she died on the way.Investigating officer ASI Balraj of Kotwali police station said the police were trying to trace the truck’s owner and driver.
