The Counter Intelligence Jalandhar has arrested two operatives linked to the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) for their alleged role in firing incidents related to extortion.Accused Sukhwinder Singh, alias Sunny, and Rawal, both residents of Kulam village in Nawanshahr, were arrested during an intelligence-led operation near the Lidran underbridge along the Jalandhar-Amritsar highway at Suranussi.The police seized a .32 bore pistol, magazines and eight cartridges from their possession.DGP Gaurav Yadav said preliminary investigation revealed that the accused were acting on the directions of their foreign-based handlers — Gopi Nawanshehria, Jassi Kulam and Sushant Chopra, associated with the BKI. The accused allegedly fired twice at the residence of a travel agent at Garhshankar to extort money.An FIR has been registered under Sections 111 and 61(2) of the BNS and Sections 25 and 25(1-B)(a) of the Arms Act at the State Special Operation Cell police station in Amritsar.
