The local police have registered two separate cases following reports of extortion threats made to residents by callers claiming to be members of the notorious Rohit Godara gang.The threats, which allegedly originated from international phone numbers, involved demands for money accompanied by threats of death to the victims and their families.Both cases have been registered under Section 308(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).The first incident involved a driver employed with the Municipal Council, Faridkot, who reportedly received a menacing call from abroad demanding extortion money. The accused has been identified as Chhaibar Singh, a resident of village Kaniawali in the Muktsar district.In the second case, a resident of the Green Avenue locality in Faridkot approached the police after receiving a similar extortion call. The caller in this instance also claimed affiliation with the Rohit Godara gang, mirroring the tactics used in the first case.Police are examining possible links between the two cases, as both callers claimed to represent the same gang.
