Two Indian nationals have been confirmed dead and one is missing in the ongoing West Asia conflict, the government said on Wednesday, adding that it is prioritising the welfare and safety of Indian citizens in the Gulf nations affected by the crisis.MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed that two lives have been lost and one Indian remains unaccounted for.“Three Indian nationals died or are missing when the merchant ship vessels they were on board came under attack,” Jaiswal said.He added that a few Indians injured in the Gulf are receiving medical care. One Indian national injured in Israel is recuperating in hospital, while another was injured in Dubai on Wednesday morning and is being treated.Jaiswal said that around 9,000 Indians, mostly students, are in Iran. Many have followed government advisories and returned home. Some remain in Iran, and the embassy is in regular contact with them.“We have relocated some students and pilgrims to other cities. Our embassy is assisting with land border crossings to Algeria and Azerbaijan, from where flights back home are available,” he said.The MEA control room set up to manage the crisis received 75 calls and 11 emails on Tuesday, all of which were responded to, Jaiswal added.
