Stepping up its electoral preparations across states, the BJP on Saturday released its third list of candidates for the Assembly elections in Kerala, and finalised a seat-sharing arrangement in Puducherry, and named two more nominees for the Assam elections.In Kerala, the party announced 11 candidates in its third list, fielding Karamana Jayan from Thiruvananthapuram. The list includes Raveendranath Vakathanam from Puthuppally, KR Rajesh from Chavara, R S Arun Raj from Chadayamangalam, and V Ratheesh from Peerumade.Vivek Gopan has been givn poll ticket from Aruvikkara, TN Suresh from Kovalam, and S Rajasekharan Nair from Neyyattinkara. Ajimon will contest from Mavelikkara, BS Anoop from Chirayinkeezhu, and Pandalam Prathapan from Adoor.In Assam, the BJP named Krishna Saha from Dalgaon and Jiban Gogoi from Sissibargaon, taking its total declared candidates to 90 out of 126 seats. The party’s decision to field Gogoi comes amid speculation that Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah’s wife could be nominated from the seat.The BJP is contesting the Assam elections in alliance with the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF). Under the seat-sharing arrangement, the AGP will contest 26 seats and the BPF 11, with the remaining seats going to the BJP.In Puducherry, the party announced nine candidates for the Assembly poll, fielding PML Kalyanasundaram from Kalapet and GNS Rajasekaran from Thirunallar. The list also included A Namassivayam from Mannadipet, VP Ramalingame from Rajbhavan, and A Johnkumar from Mudaliarpet.Embalam R Selvam has been fielded from Manavely, TKSM Meenatchisundaram from Neravy TR Pattinam, A Dineshan from Mahe, and E Theeppainthan from Oussudu, a Scheduled Caste reserved constituency.The announcements come a day after the ruling AINRC and the BJP-AIADMK combine finalised a seat-sharing agreement for the Union territory. Under the arrangement, the AINRC will contest 16 seats, while the BJP will fight on the remaining 14. The BJP has allocated two seats each to the AIADMK and the Lakshia Jananayaga Katchi.The pact was sealed after a meeting between Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy and Union minister Mansukh Mandaviya. Despite earlier reservations, Rangasamy agreed to include the LJK in the alliance after the talks.
