A 44-year-old man collapsed and died while bowling during a corporate cricket match at the Ace Cricket Ground in Sector 87 Mohali on Saturday.The victim, Belan Sangun, a native of Karnataka and an engineer with a private firm, was delivering the 16th over of the inning when he suddenly collapsed.Fellow players rushed him to a private hospital, where doctors declared him dead.According to reports, the victim’s wife, Sanjita, said she saw no foul play in the incident after reviewing CCTV footage.Belan Sangun is survived by his wife and son, who was celebrating his birthday at the time of the tragedy.Police are investigating the matter.“He was simply enjoying the game he loved, but fate had other plans. The most painful part is that today was also his son’s birthday. What should have been a day of celebration for the family has turned into a day of deep sorrow,” his friends said.
