An Income Tax Department team raided the Jodha Mal Road residence of former minister and Congress leader Sunder Sham Arora here on Thursday.The raid, which began on 6.30 am, was continuing till the filing of the report.Officials did not disclose the reason for the action.However, according to sources, the Income Tax Department team was examining documents related to Arora’s real estate business. They said the raid was linked to a residential project in Mohali.The team comprised eight officials, including two forensic experts and officials from Faridabad.As soon as the team arrived, the gate of Arora’s house was closed and paramilitary personnel were deployed.No one was allowed to enter or leave the premises during the operation.In 2022, the Vigilance Department had raided Arora’s residence in connection with an alleged multi-crore scam involving the sale of industrial plots of Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation.This FIR was quashed by the High Court in December 2024. An FIR was registered in October 2022 against him for attempting to give Rs 50 lakh in bribe to an AIG of the Vigilance Bureau.
