District officials and Punjab Police personnel on Wednesday paid a surprise visit to the official residence of rape accused Sanaur MLA Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra here, making his family to vacate the premises.They brought with them trucks, police vehicles and two ambulances. Reacting to it, the fugitive ruling AAP legislator took to social media, questioning the move.Pathanmajra is on the run since September 2. In a daring escape, he had allegedly opened fire on the police. He reportedly fled to Australia and was declared a proclaimed offender.An official said they reached the MLA’s residence on Passey Road and asked his wife to vacate the property. “We have orders to shift the belongings and lock the house,” said the official who was present on the spot.An eviction notice was served on Pathanmajra’s wife Simranjot Kaur in September last year.“An SDM court had ordered eviction and our appeal is pending with the deputy commissioner. Even before we could be heard, the police started the process of getting the house vacated. We will move the High Court,” said Pathanmajra’s counsel Bikramjit Singh Bhullar.‘Act of political vendetta’Reacting to it, Simranjot Kaur said, “It is a clear case of political vendetta. My appeal to the Bhagwant Mann government is to stop this wrongdoing.”Pathanmajra said that those without any posts were misusing government bungalows in Patiala, Chandigarh and Delhi, while he was still a legislator. “They are targeting me but I will continue to raise the issues of people,” said the fugitive MLA.
