High drama unfolded at Nabha Jail on Tuesday as the release of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and former Punjab cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia was delayed.The delay came as his legal team remained inside the jail to complete formalities following the Supreme Court’s bail order in his disproportionate assets case.Related news: Will Bikram Singh Majithia walk out of Punjab jail today?Majithia’s wife Ganieve Kaur also arrived at the jail premises, adding to the tense atmosphere among supporters and party leaders who had gathered early in anticipation of his release.Majithia, who had already secured bail in a separate Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act case, was granted bail by the Supreme Court on Monday in the disproportionate assets matter.Meanwhile, Majithia’s counsel Damanbir Sobti said that the Punjab government had approached the court seeking to bar the SAD leader from entering the state. However, Sobti said the court dismissed these conditions, and Majithia’s release was expected soon.Supporters of the SAD have been camping outside Nabha Jail since Monday evening, awaiting Majithia’s exit.Security arrangements were in place to ensure a smooth release once all formalities were finalised.
