A day after the BJP and SAD criticised Bhagwant Mann for veiled attack on Radha Soami Beas Dera head Gurinder Singh Dhillon, leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa asked AAP Supremo Arvind Kejriwal and other party leaders to clarify their stand on the remarks made by the Chief Minister. After meeting Bikram Singh Majithia at Patiala Jail, the Dera head had said charges against Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia were “false and baseless”, attracting a remark from the CM, who in a veiled attack at the spiritual leader, wrote on X account, “Whether it is done tomorrow or today, God is the protector of the courts, where only the visitors become judges.”Joining the issue, Bajwa, who is the first Congress leader to speak on the controversy, wrote on his X account, “I was very saddened to read it. After that, the discussion taking place on social media and reading the news published in the newspapers today have hurt my heart greatly.”He further said, “Before speaking on such a sensitive issue, I would like to bring this to the attention of all the Sangat that this is not our Punjabi heritage nor is there any such example in history where the Chief Minister of any state has made such a comment about a saint. Punjabis have always respected their Gurus, Pir-Prophet, Sadhu-Saints and great men.”Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, said, “I would like to ask the entire Aam Aadmi Party leadership—Ministers, MLAs, MPs and especially AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab in-charge Manish Sisodia, Punjab President Aman Arora, Minister Harjot Singh Bains, MP Sri Anandpur Sahib Malvinder Singh Kang, Chief Spokesperson Kuldeep Dhaliwal, MLA Dev Mann and other leaders — who are the promoters and lovers of Dera Beas— whether they will clarify to the three and a half crore people of Punjab and the promoters and devotees of Dera Beas living in the country and abroad if this is the official line of their party or just the personal opinion of Bhagwant Mann, that has been expressed on his X account? The Aam Aadmi Party’s stand on this should be clear to the people.”He further said, “First you took a dig at farmers, then at employees, then at the Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib and the Shiromani Committee, and now at saints too. All this does not befit the office of the Chief Minister.”
