Cough up Rs 75 to cross toll plaza on Mohali IT City-Kurali road

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has operationalised the Bajheri toll plaza on the IT City-Kurali Expressway from February 1.The NHAI has fixed Rs 75 as user fee for cars, jeeps and light motor vehicles and Rs 260 for buses and trucks for single journey at the Bajheri toll plaza on the expressway stretch. The rate for monthly pass for local non-commercial vehicles residing within a distance of 20 km from the toll plaza is Rs 340.Officials said there was a 25% discount for all categories on return journey within 24 hours from the time of payment and 33% discount for 50 single journeys in a month from the date of payment for all categories.Nearly 14,000 vehicles use the expressway daily.The six-lane expressway between Mohali and Kurali, a 30.223-km stretch, was opened for traffic on December 22, giving the road users an option to bypass Mohali or Kharar from IT City Chowk to Kurali. It has a maximum speed limit of 100kmph, and cuts the commuting time by around 45 minutes, even though the overall distance remains more or less the same.The IT City-Kurali section (Package-2) was developed at the cost of Rs 2,304.24 crore. The under-construction 30-km Ambala-Hisar Road to IT City (Package-1) of the corridor is likely to be opened for traffic by June-end, said officials.
