In a heartwarming display of bravery and compassion, firefighters from Washington state’s Stevens County Fire Department rescued a deer trapped on the frozen surface of Loon Lake. The distressed animal had been struggling to stay upright on the slick ice, prompting a nearby resident to call for help.Firefighter Gavyn Gallagher ventured onto the ice, equipped with a stretcher and rope, to reach the frightened deer. As the deer attempted to move away, Gallagher secured a lasso around its body and lay flat on the ice, wrapping himself around the animal to ensure a safe extraction.The video of the rescue shows the deer crying out in distress, but as Gallagher’s fellow firefighters pulled them towards shore, the animal calmed down, seemingly trusting in the firefighter’s care.The successful rescue highlights the dangers wildlife face during severe winter conditions and showcases the quick thinking and selflessness of first responders.”I love every human involved in this rescue,” a user wrote.
