In continuation of the 9th edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha (PPC) 2026 on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, responding to a student’s question on how he handles stress during critical national moments such as the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor, remarked that students often feel exam stress but later realise it was temporary once the exams were over.During an informal interaction with exam warriors from Coimbatore, Raipur, Devmogra and Guwahati, he emphasised that the best way to overcome exam tension was to develop the habit of solving papers and writing regularly, rather than only reading. He added that consistent practice prevented stress. Modi also highlighted the importance of laughter and, most importantly, proper sleep, noting that sound rest kept the mind fresh, ideas flowing and spirits uplifted.Responding to a student’s query on startups, Modi said the first focus should be on what one wanted to do — whether innovation in technology or practical solutions like drones or electricity systems. He emphasised that there was no age requirement to start a venture and that even small startups could be impactful.Modi cited Singapore’s transformation from a fishing village, quoting former PM Lee Kuan Yew’s emphasis on adopting the disciplined habits of developed nations. He remarked that small steps such as not littering, following traffic rules, avoiding food wastage and supporting local products contributed significantly to national progress. He stressed being “vocal for local” and encouraged celebrating events like weddings in India rather than abroad, underlining that every citizen’s small actions collectively help build a developed nation.Addressing another question on artificial intelligence, the PM emphasised that technology must not become the master of human life, cautioning against becoming enslaved to devices. He stated firmly, “I will not become a slave,” and advised that AI should be used for guidance and value addition, not as a substitute for learning. When asked about the qualities he expects from the future generation as leaders, Modi remarked that the foremost quality was to be fearless. He also advised that parents should avoid excessively praising one child in front of others, as it could create imbalance.
