In a significant breakthrough in the crackdown against drug trafficking in Punjab, the Khanna police arrested a father-son duo for their involvement in a narcotics peddling network. The accused were identified as Jagpal Singh, alias Jogi, a resident of Daheru village, and his son, Ekamdeep Singh.A case was registered against Jogi on February 16 at Sadar Khanna police station. He has been identified as the crucial backward linkage of previously arrested accused, Randeep Singh and Ashveer of Daheru village, who were apprehended with six gm heroin, the state spokesperson of Khanna police said.Investigation revealed that Randeep was residing and operating from Jogi’s residence, effectively turning it into a centre for illegal drug activities. During the raid, police recovered Rs 47,500 in drug money from Jogi’s possession, the spokesperson added.Notably, Jogi is a habitual and hardened offender, with around 22 FIRs registered against him involving serious bodily offences, including multiple cases of attempt to murder and violations under the Arms Act, the Khanna police statement stated. In further backward linkage development, one Gurjit Singh, alias Guri, a resident of Harbanspura village, has been arrested for allegedly supplying heroin to the father-son duo.As per the police statement, the preliminary investigation indicates that Jogi had no legitimate source of income, and criminal elements frequently visited his residence, which had effectively become a haven for anti-social activities.Further investigation is underway to trace additional linkages, financial transactions, and associates connected to this module.
