Karnataka woman, mother of two, travels 2,100 km to live with online friend in Punjab’s Abohar; refuses to return

A widowed woman from Karnataka, who has two children, traveled about 2,100 km to live with a 19-year-old friend from Abohar who came into her contact through an online game. When the woman’s parents filed a missing persons complaint with the Karnataka police, a team arrived in Abohar and, along with the City-2 police, went to the boy’s house. The team on Tuesday had to return empty-handed as the woman refused to return.According to the police sources, the woman stated that she was married to a young man in Karnataka about four years ago. After their marriage, they had two children. Her husband died about a year ago, so she moved back to live with her parents.She explained that she is not very educated and, in her free time, began playing the Free Fire game on her mobile phone. During this time, she met Sonu of Abohar, and this acquaintance gradually blossomed into a love affair.The woman said that on January 8, she left Karnataka for Abohar with her two children, telling her mother that she was going out of town for some work. Upon arriving in Delhi, she called Sonu, broke her mobile SIM card, and reached Abohar with him on January 12.She explained that she left her home to secure a future for her two children and to find her love. About five months ago, they began chatting on Instagram, playing games, and this conversation blossomed into love. Now, she wants to live with her boyfriend.Sonu’s mother reportedly said she has eight children, and Sonu is the eldest. They have been living here in a rented house for the last 18 years. Her husband and son both run street stalls to sell Bhelpuri. They are originally from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. She said her son had done nothing wrong by bringing this girl here; her son is happy, and that is her happiness.The Karnataka Police, with the help of the Abohar police, reached the young man’s house and recorded statements of the people and the girl. She has refused to go to his parents. The Karnataka Police have to return empty-handed.
