Lawrence Bishnoi acquitted in 2019 Chandigarh property dealer murder case

A local court has acquitted Lawrence Bishnoi in the seven-year-old murder case of property dealer Sonu Shah in Chandigarh, while convicting three others — Rajan alias Jaat, Manjit, and Shubham Prajaptai. The court will pronounce the quantum of sentence on February 20.Sonu Shah was allegedly gunned down by assailants inside his office at Burail village, Sector 45, on September 28, 2019. Two of his colleagues, Joginder Phelwan and Rommy, were injured in the firing. The police claimed that Sonu Shah was murdered on the behest of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.The prosecution failed to prove charges against Bishnoi and five other accused, leading to their acquittal. The court framed charges against the accused under Sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC, and Section 25 of the Arms Act.Lawrence Bishnoi has been acquitted in several cases due to lack of evidence, including an extortion case and an Arms Act case. He is facing trial in multiple cases, including the murder of singer Sidhu Moosewala.
