Students appearing for the Class VIII science examination conducted by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) on Friday reported that three questions carrying five marks each were missing from one set of the question paper, printed in Punjabi medium. This led to confusion among students at several examination centres across the state. The invigilating teachers at most examination centres were informed of this error by students after going through the entire question paper.”The question paper carries total 80 marks, broken down into one, two or three-mark short questions and three five-mark questions. In the Punjabi set of paper, the three five mark questions were missing. This means students couldn’t attempt paper carrying 15-mark weightage,” said one of the invigilators posted at Amritsar. This glaring error prompted teachers and centre heads to report and act on the matter immediately.PSEB spokesperson, commenting on the issue, said a meeting is being convened on the matter by Chairman, PSEB, and immediate instructions have been given to all centre heads to translate the questions from English or Hindi print set of question papers.
