Clash at JNU leaves several students injured, ABVP alleges attack by Left groups

A late night clash at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) led to injuries among several students and sparked fresh tensions between rival student organisations on campus.The incident reportedly took place around 1:30 am near the School of Social Sciences. Members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) alleged that their supporters were attacked by students linked to left wing groups.One of ABVP’S members, Prateek Bhardwaj, a Biotechnology student, was allegedly surrounded and assaulted.The organisation claimed that during the incident, a fire extinguisher was used, and powder was sprayed into the student’s eyes before he was beaten. ABVP also alleged that other objects were used in the scuffle and that a large group of masked individuals chased students and disrupted study spaces, including library areas.Following the clash, ABVP demanded strict action against those involved and called for police intervention. The group urged the university administration to ensure safety on campus and prevent such incidents in the future.Officials from Delhi Police are said to be monitoring the situation. There was no immediate confirmation about any arrests or formal complaints.The university administration has not yet released a detailed statement on the matter. The exact cause of the clash and the total number of injured students are still unclear.The incident has once again raised concerns about campus safety at JNU, which has witnessed political clashes in the past.
