An Indian-origin restaurateur in London has announced the closure of his long-running eatery, citing financial pressures, alleged harassment, and repeated disturbances as key reasons behind the decision.Harman Singh Kapoor, owner of ‘Rangrez’ in Hammersmith, said he will shut the Indian restaurant next month after 16 years in business. In a post on X, Kapoor described the move as a “difficult decision” and thanked customers who had supported the establishment over the years.Kapoor listed rising operational costs, ongoing online harassment, and what he described as repeated disturbances and attacks by Pakistanis among the factors that led to the closure. He also expressed dissatisfaction with what he called a lack of adequate support from the Metropolitan Police. The restaurant owner had earlier alleged that his premises were targeted in March 2023 following social media videos in which he criticised the Khalistan movement and mocked radical preacher and Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh. In one TikTok video, Kapoor said he supported the idea of Khalistan in principle but disagreed with the methods adopted by its proponents.Kapoor said he now plans to focus fully on activism, stating that while his business could be disrupted, his resolve remains strong.
