A huge commotion erupted outside the Abohar bus stand when a woman, who was driving a car, accused a private transport driver and his accomplices of misbehaving and assaulting her after a minor collision between the bus and the car.The woman, who studies in a college, has been identified as Nenika Verma, great granddaughter of the late Chandi Ram Verma who was a former minister and freedom fighter.Nenika has been admitted to the Abohar Civil Hospital for treatment. The bus driver, who has also been admitted to the hospital, has accused the woman and her supporters of misbehaviour.Nenika, who also takes care of her family’s petrol pump, alleged that yesterday, while she was driving her car past a bakery near the bus stand, she stopped her car when a funeral procession arrived. But the bus hit her car, causing damage.When she got out of her car and complained to the bus driver about the incident, instead of offering suitable compensation, he allegedly mistreated her.Other staff present at the bus stand “also joined him in humiliating her”, she alleged.
