After getting a rap from a Delhi court on Friday for its inadequate investigation in the Delhi liquor policy case, in which all 23 accused, including AAP leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia and BRS leader K Kavitha, were discharged, the CBI will appeal against the verdict in the Delhi High Court.Sources in the agency said the appeal will be filed against the trial court’s verdict immediately since several aspects of the investigation have either been ignored or not considered adequately.Earlier, a Delhi court acquitted Kejriwal, Sisodia, Kavitha, Bijay Nair, Durgesh Pathak and others in the alleged excise policy scam. The Rouse Avenue Court ruled that there was no evidence of criminal conspiracy or wrongdoing in the formulation of the excise policy.Special Judge (PC Act) Jitender Singh passed the order closing the case initiated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against all the accused. There was no overarching conspiracy or criminal intent in the excise policy,” the judge said. The case stemmed from a complaint by L-G VK Saxena in 2022 to the CBI and subsequently the probe agency had registered a First Information Report.
