After being discharged by a Delhi court in the excise policy case, former CM Arvind Kejriwal launched a scathing attack on PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, terming the entire episode as the “biggest political conspiracy in independent India” aimed at finishing off Aam Aadmi Party.Claiming he had earned nothing but honesty in life, the AAP chief said the court’s verdict had “affirmed his integrity by throwing out a fake case”. “The court has proved that Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and AAP are honest to the core,” he said, addressing a press conference along with other AAP leaders, including Sisodia, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, AAP’s Delhi state president Saurabh Bhardwaj and Durgesh Pathak.Must accept verdictWhatever I had said about Kejriwal was before any decision had come from the judiciary. Now, we must accept the court’s verdict. – Anna Hazare, social activistKejriwal accused the BJP of messing up Delhi and dared the party to hold Assembly elections afresh to ascertain who the “true winners” were. “I will quit politics if the BJP wins more than 10 seats,” he said.The former CM said for four years, the BJP used the phrase “liquor scam extensively across the country to eliminate AAP”. “The court has delivered an extremely historic judgment. I want to sincerely thank the judiciary and the judge for the decision… In the current period when institutions and authorities are being intimidated, the judge has shown remarkable courage. I want to thank all lawyers and people who stood by us,” he said.Kejriwal said the ED, CBI and other institutions were “misused to frame them in the fake liquor scam”. “The CBI and the ED filed chargesheets. Today, the court had to decide prima facie whether there was sufficient material on the basis of evidence and witness statements to even conduct a trial. It found none,” he said.
