The election for the chairman and vice-chairman of the Faridkot Block Samiti was postponed on Thursday after a boycott by SAD elected members led to a lack of quorum. The administration has rescheduled the meeting for Friday. While members from the Congress, AAP, and BJP arrived at the BDPO office for the election, the absence of the SAD bloc prevented the proceedings from reaching the mandatory participation threshold.Following the postponement, SAD national vice-president Parambans Singh ‘Bunty’ Romana levelled serious charges against rival parties. Romana alleged there was a “secret pact,” claiming that despite the Congress having more members, they have conceded the vice-chairman’s post to AAP.“Leaders who publicly attack each other are now hands-in-glove to divide these posts,” Romana alleged. He also questioned the presence of the local MLA at the meeting, asserting that official rules prohibit MLAs from participating in these specific elections.Romana further claimed that this alliance reflected a pattern of “tactical understandings” among rival parties during previous Block Samiti and Zila Parishad polls to sideline the Shiromani Akali Dal.
