At an age of just 11 years, Jannat is observing rozas, or fasts, during the holy Ramzan month for the third straight year this time.Upset over the fact that her fast for a day was “invalidated” as she had to consume medicine, Jannat says she wants to spread the tenets of Islam among the non-Muslim population in the area. She had to take oral medications due to high fever.“I am not sad that I got fever, but I am upset that Allah did not want me to keep fast for the whole month,” she says. Her father, Bholla Akram, sells milk.Paying gratitude to the Almighty, Akram said he was proud that his family followed teachings of the Quran, in letter and in spirit.Jannat excelled in the recent National School Games and has been faring well in studies.Along with the three languages being taught at school, she can speak, read and write Urdu and Arabic.“I wish to learn maximum about Islam and practice the acquired knowledge in my life, so that I can propagate tenets of universal brotherhood, peace, sacrifice and patience,” adds Jannat.
