Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami on Friday congratulated Sikh candidates who cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination and were selected for higher administrative services, announcing that the SGPC would honour them with Rs 1 lakh each.In a press statement issued here, Dhami said success in a highly competitive examination like the UPSC reflects the hard work, dedication and determination of the youth.He said candidates such as Simrandeep Kaur and Sunwardeep Singh, along with other Sikh students who cleared the examination, had not only brought pride to their families but also to the Sikh community.Simrandeep Kaur, who secured the 15th rank at the national level, is an alumna of Khalsa College, Patiala, an institution run by the SGPC.Dhami said the SGPC would honour Sikh candidates who qualify for the UPSC examination with a cash award of Rs 1 lakh each as a mark of encouragement.He further announced that a special provision would be made in the SGPC’s upcoming budget to support the preparation of administrative service examinations, particularly for needy Gursikh students aspiring to join the civil services.
