Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Monday expressed concern over the state’s law and order, terming the situation “challenging”.He said the state’s rising debt, which has crossed Rs 4 lakh crore, was also a concern as it would eventually “burden the common people”.“In Punjab, the current law and order situation is very challenging and it is the weak link. Almost every day, gunshots are being fired and murders taking place,” he said after offering prayers at the Kali Devi temple here.He said the growing debt needed to be kept in mind ahead of every Budget and the government’s income should exceed its expenditure. “A balance is needed while drafting the Budget. The loss should not be more than 3 per cent of the state GDP,” he said.
