Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday visited Madina village in Sonepat district to attend the wedding of a farmer’s daughter.Rahul arrived in the village around 10.10 am and stayed for nearly an hour to participate in the marriage ceremony of Tanu, daughter of farmer Sanjay. He blessed the bride and interacted with family members about Haryanvi wedding traditions.Family members welcomed Rahul Gandhi with a white turban. Deepender Singh Hooda, MP from Rohtak, along with other Congress leaders, received him on his arrival in Madina village.Farmer Sanjay and the village sarpanch had travelled to Delhi on February 25 to personally invite Rahul Gandhi to the wedding.During his visit today, Rahul Gandhi tasted traditional sweets and also had milk ‘choorma’. He presented a gift and ‘shagun’ to the bride.Earlier, Rahul Gandhi had visited Madina village in the Gohana area on July 8, 2023, where he interacted with farmers and farm labourers. During that visit, he reached Sanjay’s fields where farmers were busy sowing paddy.Rolling up his trousers to his knees, Rahul entered the water-filled fields and participated in paddy sowing. He also drove a tractor to plough the field.Rahul Gandhi spent over two hours in the fields, interacting with farmers and labourers and listening to their concerns.Following the interaction, he had invited farmer Sanjay and his family members, along with others, to Delhi for lunch.
