Ropar police solved a blind murder case reported from near Purkhali village and arrested four accused. SSP Maninder Singh said the body of Ali Mohammad, alias Tannu, was found near Purkhali village on March 2.During the investigation, the police analysed CCTV footage and gathered technical evidence which revealed that the victim had been kidnapped and murdered due to an old enmity.A joint team led by SP (Investigation) Gurdeep Singh Gosal, along with DSPs and CIA staff, carried out the investigation.The police arrested Amandeep Singh, a resident of Nawanshahr village (Badala), near Kharar in Mohali, one Rikki, his wife Sukhwinder Kaur, and one Gurjit Singh, residents of Chuhar Majra village under Chamkaur Sahib police station in Ropar district.The police said around 10 criminal cases are already registered against Rikki, while two cases under the Excise Act are pending against Amandeep Singh.The police have also recovered a silver-coloured Innova car (CH-04-C-2618) used in the crime. Some other accused involved in the case are still absconding, and raids are being conducted to arrest them, the SSP added.385 kg poppy husk seized in Punjab’s Ropar, 2 arrestedRopar police on Tuesday seized 385 kg of crushed poppy husk and arrested two persons near Kiratpur Sahib area of Ropar.Addressing a press conference, Ropar SSP Maninder Singh said a team from Kiratpur Sahib police station intercepted a truck during a blockade near Bhatoli village.During the search of the vehicle, the police recovered 385 kg of crushed poppy husk concealed in the truck.The police arrested the truck driver, Vikram Singh, alias Vicky, a resident of Garnal village in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh, and the conductor, Arun Kumar, a resident of Daliai village in Bilaspur district.The truck bearing registration number HP-67-8087 was also seized. The SSP said a case has been registered under Sections 15, 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
