The Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Punjab, has made it mandatory for the beneficiary farmers availing the benefits of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi to get them registered under the Central Farmer Registration System to continue their installments.Mohali Chief Agriculture Officer Sukhjinder Singh Bajwa said it will be mandatory for farmers taking benefit of Kisan Samman Nidhi to register on the Agristech portal and create a unique Farmer Registration ID. He said the main objective of the farmer registry will be to create a centralised database of farmers so that the benefits of the government’s farmer-friendly schemes can reach the actual farmers directly and transparently.He said that in the future, the benefit of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme will be available only to those beneficiary farmers who have completed their registration and obtained a Farmer ID. Each registered beneficiary will get a unique identification number, which will be linked to their existing PM Kisan account, so that verification and authentication of land records can be made easy. Dr. Sukhjinder Singh Bajwa, while making the farmers aware, said that those farmers who fail to complete the registration process may face a ban on their future installments.Advising the farmers, he said the beneficiary farmers should take their Aadhaar card to their nearest common service center and get registered without delay. The Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, SAS Nagar, is also organising village-level camps in different blocks by contacting the common service center. Farmers can visit the agriculture office of their block for further assistance and get information about this.
