Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Industry and Investment Promotion Minister Sanjeev Arora and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday assured industry leaders that the state government would provide all possible support to help Punjab emerge as a major manufacturing hub and compete with China in manufacturing.Addressing investors at Plaksha University on the opening day of the Progressive Punjab Investors Summit, they urged industrialists to partner with the government in driving economic growth in the state.Kejriwal, chief guest at the inaugural session, said Punjab’s entrepreneurial culture could help reclaim the domestic market from products imported from China.“It pains me when every product in the market, even idols of our gods, carry a ‘Made in China’ label. Punjabis are known for their innovativeness and entrepreneurial spirit. You tell us what help you need from the AAP government to become a global manufacturing hub and we will provide it,” he said.Kejriwal said countries such as China, Japan and Germany rebuilt their economies with the support of industry and Punjab also aimed at strengthening its economy by investing in human capital and supporting entrepreneurs.CM Mann said investments announced during the summit would shape the state’s economic future. Welcoming industrialists “on behalf of 3.5 crore Punjabis”, he said the government was working to create a favourable ecosystem for industrial investment.“We have highly skilled youth. If industries require specialised skills, the government is ready to upgrade the workforce to meet industry requirements,” Mann said.Sanjeev Arora highlighted incentives offered under the new industrial policy, including single-window clearance, deemed approvals within 45 days and self-certification for MSMEs, enabling businesses to begin operations within five days. He said Punjab had attracted Rs 55,000 crore in investments over the past year.
