State-owned fuel retailer Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) on Saturday said the country’s petroleum supply chain is robust and reliable in the light of the global energy crisis due to ongoing conflict in West Asia.In its official X account, BPCL wrote, “India’s petroleum supply chain continues to remain stable and resilient. Diversified crude sourcing, strong refinery operations and a robust distribution network are ensuring steady fuel availability across the country.”“BPCL remains fully operational across its network, with retail outlets functioning normally and adequate fuel stocks available to serve customers without disruption,” it added. On similar lines, another state-owned fuel retailer Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) on its official X handle, wrote, “Even during the most challenging times, LPG continued to reach homes across the country. India’s Oil Marketing Companies continue to work round the clock to ensure uninterrupted LPG supply, keeping kitchens across the country running.”Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) also wrote in its official X handle, “Domestic LPG supply continues to remain stable and prioritised for households across the country. HPCL is working round the clock to ensure uninterrupted availability and doorstep delivery of HP gas cylinders.”Meanwhile, in the wake of ongoing global oil and gas crisis, the Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh, on March 12, assured that India’s crude supply position is secure, and volumes secured exceed what Hormuz would have delivered. Before this crisis, approximately 45 per cent of India’s crude imports transited the Hormuz route. He had said India has secured crude volumes that exceed what the disrupted Strait route would have delivered in the same period. Non-Hormuz sourcing has risen to approximately 70 per cent of crude imports, up from 55 per cent before the conflict began. On natural gas, Puri had said the supply has been managed through prioritised allocation, and the position is stable well beyond immediate need. India produces approximately 90 MMSCMD (Million Metric Standard Cubic Metres per Day) of natural gas domestically. A further 30 MMSCMD was previously imported through Gulf sources now affected by the force majeure declaration from a major Qatari processing facility.
