Oil Ministry issues advisory, says sufficient petrol, diesel available across India

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on Saturday issued an advisory urging citizens not to take or store fuel in loose or inappropriate containers, as it poses serious safety risks.Petroleum Ministry, on its official X account, issued an advisory, saying, “It has come to notice that at one retail outlet in Tamil Nadu, petrol was being taken in a loose container, which is unsafe and not advisable. The concerned petrol pump has been suspended, and appropriate action has been taken.”“All petrol pumps across the country have adequate availability of petrol and diesel. Consumers are advised not to take or store fuel in loose or inappropriate containers, as it poses serious safety risks. All retail outlets have been instructed to strictly follow safety guidelines while dispensing fuel, and any violation will invite strict action,” it added.Earlier, Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary (Marketing & Oil Refinery) at the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, while addressing an inter-ministerial briefing on developments in West Asia, had said sufficient petrol and diesel are available in the country, and at present, there is no need for imports, reported agencies.”As far as crude oil and refineries are concerned, we have a sufficient supply of crude and our refineries are operating at full capacity. There have been no reports of any dry-out at retail outlets. Adequate petrol and diesel are available,” she said.She noted that the domestic production is fulfilling the country’s needs. “We produce enough petrol and diesel in the country according to our requirements, and therefore there is no need for us to import them,” Sharma added.
