A potentially dangerous accident was successfully averted today in Jaito town of Faridkot due to the swift coordination and prompt action of the police following a leak from 40 CNG cylinders.Emergency protocols were activated immediately after reports emerged of a CNG gas leak from a truck loaded with 40 cylinders in Jaito.The emergency response was triggered through the wireless control room, leading to the rapid mobilisation of the Road Safety Force and the Fire Brigade. Recognising the seriousness of the situation, DSP (Sub-Division) Jaito, Iqbal Singh, reached the spot along with teams from the Jaito Police Station and established a secure perimeter.To ensure public safety and prevent any loss of life or property, authorities evacuated a two-kilometre radius around the site and diverted traffic.In a high-stakes operation, DSP Iqbal Singh, along with his team and the vehicle’s driver, Hadish Ali, managed to manually shut the valves of all 40 gas cylinders loaded on the vehicle. Ambulances were also stationed at the site as a precautionary measure.SSP Pragya Jain, who personally monitored the situation, praised the courage and presence of mind displayed by the officers. In recognition of their efforts, she formally honoured DSP Iqbal Singh’s team and driver Hadish for their responsible and heroic role in averting the disaster.Reflecting on the incident, Dr Jain said the timely action and seamless coordination between the police and other departments was a “commendable example” of effective public service and disaster management.
