Moosewala’s father seeks police action against ‘unauthorised’ documentary screening in Mumbai on June 11

Balkaur Singh, father of late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, has urged the Mumbai police to restrain and stop the scheduled screening of a documentary based on his son’s life and death.AdvertisementThe event is slated to be held on June 11 at Soho House in Juhu, Mumbai. In a formal complaint addressed to the Maharashtra Director General of Police (DGP) and Station House Officer (SHO) of Juhu police station, Balkaur Singh alleged that the screening of documentary titled, Investigative Documentary on Sidhu Moosewala, is reportedly being conducted by a foreign public broadcaster and produced by two local producers. In his complaint, he mentioned that the documentary contains unauthorised, sensitive and unpublished material, including personal testimonies and commentary on an ongoing criminal case, and its screening could incite public unrest, interfere with investigations into Moosewala’s murder and violate the family’s legal rights, including privacy and posthumous dignity. He further claimed in the complaints that he was in the process of pursuing civil and legal remedies in this regard. The release date coincides with the birth anniversary of Moosewala, who was born on June 11, 1993.
