Muktsar district police on Monday claimed to have busted an alleged espionage network and arrested two persons for leaking sensitive information related to the Army and cantonment areas to Pakistan-based agents, including photographs and videos from the “SwaRaksha Mahotsav 2025” held in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.According to the police, a CIA staff team, acting on specific intelligence inputs, intercepted a car near the Bathinda bypass road on Saturday and arrested Akashdeep Singh, alias Mintu, a resident of Maha Badhar village, and Balraj Singh, of Chibranwali village. Both Pritpal and Akashdeep are cousinsInspector Gurwinder Singh, in charge of CIA Staff, said, “Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had been in contact with Pakistan-based agents through WhatsApp for a long time. They were sharing sensitive information related to Army programmes and receiving money in their bank accounts. Their associate, Pritpal Singh alias Yograj Singh alias Jagga of Ferozepur district, is already lodged in jail.”He further claimed that the accused Akashdeep had shared photographs and videos from the “Swaraksha Mahotsav 2025”. They were allegedly attempting to gather more confidential military information, claimed the police.The accused were produced before a court and remanded to four days of police custody. A case has been registered under Section 152 of the BNS and Sections 3, 4 and 5 of the Official Secrets Act.
