In a significant humanitarian initiative, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) started a ‘langar’ service for patients and their attendants at Guru Nanak Dev Hospital.The service was formally inaugurated by SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami after an ardas. The initiative had earlier received approval from the SGPC’s executive committee.Hospital authorities, including Director-Principal Dr Rajeev Devgan and Medical Superintendent Dr Karamjit Singh, welcomed the SGPC delegation.Speaking on the occasion, Dhami said the move was in line with the teachings of the Sikh gurus and aimed at extending support to patients and their attendants, especially those coming from distant places for treatment. He said the langar facility would provide much-needed relief and serve as a source of comfort during difficult times.Thanking the hospital administration for their cooperation, Dhami expressed hope that the initiative would benefit a large number of needy people visiting the hospital.Several SGPC members and officials, along with hospital staff, were present during the launch.
