The Panchkula cyber police arrested a Bihar man for hacking the WhatsApp account of former Haryana DGP Kanwar Nirmal Singh.Rajesh Kumar, the alleged perpetrator, a resident of Nalanda district in Bihar, not only hacked the WhatsApp account of the former top cop but also exploited his position and reputation by duping his one-time gunman of Rs 40,000.The police arrested the accused based on technical evidence after a month-long hustle. His other accomplices are currently absconding.According to the complaint, on March 9, the former DGP received a call from an unknown number. The caller claimed a parcel had arrived and that he needed to dial a code from his phone to receive it. As soon as he repeated this process, the fraudster obtained his WhatsApp access and logged his number into their device. The accused then sent messages to his WhatsApp contacts, citing an emergency and demanding money.Falling prey to this deception, police officer Gulshan Kumar, who had previously served as a gunman for the former DGP, transferred Rs 40,000 to the bank account provided by the fraudsters.DCP Crime and Traffic Amarinder Singh said a cheating case was registered at the Cyber ​​Crime Police Station, Panchkula.”The money was deposited into the bank account of Rajesh Kumar, a resident of Nalanda, Bihar. Our team arrested the accused on March 29. Rs 40,000 has been recovered from him. The accused has been remanded to judicial custody today. He had rented his account to the criminals.
