Sparks are flying inside the All India Football Federation (AIFF). Executive member Valanka Alemao has accused AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey, Vice President NA Haris, and Deputy Secretary General M Satyanarayan of unruly behavior during an executive committee meeting held on Sunday.Valanka, who is also the chairman of AIFF’s Women Football Commission, had been raising a lot of issues, including the shambolic preparations of the Indian women’s football team’s AFC Asian Cup and other concerns within the board. In a letter to other executive members, Valanka suggested her earlier letter, which questioned the bid evaluation report, which, according to her, a decision on RFP (request for proposal) had to be made during the annual general meeting/ special general meeting, irked the trio, and that showed in their disrespectful behavior.“…Foremost, I feel deeply prejudiced, and I found that several attempts were made by the president to suppress my voice. However, for the interest of the sport, I believe that it is imperative for me to highlight the incidents to ensure that such actions are not repeated in the subsequent meetings,” she wrote in her letter on Monday.“The president made remarks against me that were unnecessary and disrespectful. He, along with the DSG, also raised his tone time and again beyond an acceptable decibel level with the intention to intimidate me. In the meeting, I was informed that I do not have the right to seek details on the operations of the federation, including the details on the agreement with Star Cement and Dream Sports Foundation. The president stated that copies of the agreements were confidential and the same cannot be shared,” she added.Interestingly, Valanka was the only woman executive committee member who attended the meeting on Sunday. Two other co-opted members, Thongam Tababi Devi and Pinky Bompal Magar, did not attend the meeting. The AIFF denied the allegations and surprisingly called the complaint an outburst of her frustration as she failed in her attempt to get Churchill Brothers Football Club included in this season’s Indian Soccer League. In a statement released to the media, the AIFF said Valanka and her father, Churchill Alemao, “exerted tremendous pressure on the AIFF to secure a backdoor entry into the Indian Super League (ISL). However, the AIFF was unable to accommodate this request.”“On 6th January 2026, in the presence of all stakeholders, it was announced that the league would consist of 14 teams and 91 matches in a truncated season. Based on this structure, the AIFF obtained official approval from the AFC. The I-League regulations state that the winner of the season qualifies for the ISL, and as per the CAS order, the winner is Inter Kashi,” the statement stated.“Under tremendous pressure, the AIFF called an Emergency EC meeting on 9th February 2026, but that could not be held as Members didn’t participate and no Quorum was formed. She individually called members and ensured another Emergency EC meeting on 12th February with full house attendance. In that meeting, the EC rejected her proposal. Thereafter, on the day the ISL started on 14th February, her family was pressured to call a third Emergency EC Meeting. AIFF didn’t accommodate that request,” the release added.
