In a major step towards improving the quality of education in government schools, the Punjab Government has announced the launch of “Mission Samarth 4.0.” The initiative, aimed at strengthening foundational learning skills among students, will be implemented from April 1, 2026, during the academic session 2026–27 for classes III to VIII.As per guidelines issued by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), a robust monitoring mechanism has been put in place to ensure effective implementation of the programme. District Education Officers, DIET principals and Block Primary Education Officers (BPEOs) have been directed to conduct at least two school visits every week during the first half of the school day to closely review on-ground activities.Additionally, cluster head teachers and other inspection team members will carry out daily visits to two schools to monitor progress. During these visits, officials will not only review records but also conduct random assessments of at least three students, particularly focusing on those lagging behind the targeted learning outcomes. The evaluation will be based on the “Teaching at the Right Level” (TaRL) approach. To ensure transparency, officials are required to upload visit reports on the e-Punjab App, which includes observation and assessment formats. Regular review meetings will be held every fortnight at the district, block and cluster levels, while school heads will conduct weekly reviews. The Education Department emphasised that the objective of these visits is not merely inspection, but to provide academic support and guidance to teachers, thereby creating a more conducive learning environment for students.
