Five accused, arrested for trying to retrieve 20 packets of heroin dropped by a Pakistani drone, revealed that 12kg heroin was also dropped in the same area last month and delivered in Punjab. Sriganganagar SP Hari Shankar Yadav confirmed the February incident came to light during interrogation.A motorcycle used for carrying heroin in February was seized from Gurvinder Singh alias Tinku (35) of Arniwala. Police had earlier arrested Harmesh Singh alias Jora Singh, Ranjit Singh, Sonu Singh (25), Kirtan Singh (19), and Gurpreet Singh (21).Interrogation revealed Harmesh Singh, with direct contact with Pakistani smuggler Khan Baba alias Lambardar, masterminded the operation. He paid locals to retrieve the heroin, which was buried in a sandy dune.The police seized 20 packets of heroin (10kg 830g), radium sticks, and packing tape. Harmesh Singh has previously served jail time for a drug-related case.The accused were paid Rs 10,000-50,000 per kg of heroin. Kingpins from Punjab are still at large, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend them. OC
