In a major bureaucratic reshuffle, involving transfer of 12 Secretaries and the appointment of 25 Additional Secretaries, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) posted Chanchal Kumar, a 1992-batch IAS officer from the Bihar cadre who has served closely with the state’s outgoing Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, as the new Secretary in the Information and Broadcasting Ministry.He succeeds Sanjay Jaju (a 1992-batch IAS officer from the Telangana cadre), who will move into Kumar’s previous role as Secretary in the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DONER).Punjab-cadre IAS officer of 1994 batch Tejveer Singh has been appointed as Secretary, Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, in place of Nivedita Shukla Verma, a UP-cadre officer of 1991.Verma has been appointed as Secretary in the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.Rohit Kansal, a 1996-batch IAS officer of the AGMUT cadre is the new Rural Development Secretary, replacing Shailesh Kumar Singh upon his superannuation.Bhuvnesh Kumar, a 1995-batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, is the new Tourism Secretary. He will replace Srivatsa Krishna who has now been appointed as Minority Affairs Secretary.Sanjay Lohiya has been appointed as Special Secretary in the Financial Services Department. He will take over as Secretary in the same department after the incumbent Nagaraju Maddirala retires on May 31. Similarly, Bharat Harbanslal Khera, a 1996-batch IAS officer of HP cadre, has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Ministry. He will take charge as the Secretary after the retirement of Subhas Chandra Lal Das on April 30.Narendra Bhushan, a 1992-batch IAS officer of UP cadre, will take charge as Land Resources Secretary.The ACC also posted Additional Secretary Sajan Singh Yadav as Special Secretary in the Finance Ministry.Abhishek Singh, who was Director General, National Informatics Centre, has been made Director General, National Testing Agency, Ministry of Education.Diwakar Nath Misra will now be Additional Secretary in the Revenue Department, while Debasish Prusty will be Additional Secretary in the Financial Services Department. Sridhar Chiruvolu will be Additional Secretary, PMO.
