The much-awaited direct flights between Delhi and Halwara (Ludhiana) will begin from May 15, Union Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries Ravneet Bittu announced on Wednesday.Ticket sales for the inaugural Delhi-Halwara route are now open.The schedule includes two daily flights operated with a 180-seater Airbus A320 aircraft.The morning flight will depart at 5.55 am and the afternoon one at 12.55 pm.The flight duration will be around an hour and 10 minutes.Calling the development as a “proud moment for Punjab”, Bittu posted on X: “Punjab Takes Flight, New Journeys Begin! A big boost to connectivity, convenience, and growth for Punjab. The skies just got closer!”He said the commencement of commercial operations at Halwara Airport’s newly built civil terminal (inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February) is expected to significantly enhance travel convenience for residents and businesses in Ludhiana — Punjab’s industrial hub — while promoting trade and economic activity in the region.
