At least three Indian-flagged vessels are expected to arrive in India in the coming days, with one already transiting the Strait of Hormuz, even as tight supplies and regional tensions continue to shape energy flows.Industry sources said the LPG carrier Green Sanvi, carrying around 44,000 tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas, is currently passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Two more vessels — Green Asha and Jag Vikram — are likely to follow shortly.Shipping data place Green Sanvi near the Gulf of Oman. The movement of these vessels assumes significance amid evolving global energy dynamics and supply constraints faced by Indian refiners.Since the conflict began on February 28, six Indian-flagged fuel carriers have successfully transited the Strait of Hormuz en route to India. These are LPG carriers and tankers such as MT Shivalik, MT Nanda Devi, Pine Gas, Jag Vasant, BW Tyr and BW Elm.Meanwhile, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways said it has put in place measures to safeguard Indian vessels and seafarers operating in the region. The Ministry said it is closely monitoring shipping movements, port operations and the safety of Indian seafarers, while ensuring continuity of maritime trade.“All Indian seafarers in the region are safe, and no incident involving Indian-flagged vessels has been reported in the past 24 hours,” it said.A total of 18 Indian-flagged vessels with 485 Indian seafarers remain in the western Persian Gulf region. Now with Green Sanvi already crossing the Strait of Hormuz, the tally comes down to 17.The Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping), in coordination with ship owners, RPSL agencies and Indian missions, is actively monitoring the situation. The DG Shipping control room remains operational round the clock and has handled 4,984 calls and 10,296 emails since activation. In the past 24 hours alone, it received 99 calls and 362 emails.Authorities have also facilitated the safe repatriation of over 1,130 Indian seafarers so far, including 155 in the last 24 hours from airports and regional locations across the Gulf.
