Supporters of Independent Sultanpur Lodhi MLA Rana Inder Partap bagged the posts of the chairman and vice-chairman for the Fattu Dhinga block samiti on Saturday morning.The election was held in the presence of a High Court observer, three days after a clash disrupted voting. Rana had moved the HC after the incident, which had then scheduled the election for Saturday at the office of the Kapurthala deputy commissioner.Rana’s supporter Manvir Kaur was elected as the chairperson, bagging nine of 16 votes. Rana too cast his vote as the MLA.There was a 8-8 draw for the post of the vice-chairperson. This post too went to Daljit Kaur of Rana’s faction flowing a draw.Asked if one of his supporters had switched sides during the polling for the post of the vice-chairperson, Rana said one of them mistakenly voted for the AAP candidate. “Since the almighty was in our favour, our candidate finally won,” he said.
