The Shiromani Akali Dal (Punar Surjit) suffered another setback after its senior leader Barjinder Singh Brar, son of former Punjab Education Minister Tota Singh, resigned from the outfit, citing serious ideological and ethical concerns.Brar alleged the misuse of the Akal Takht platform and questioned the integrity of the leadership of the breakaway faction, including party president Giani Harpreet Singh. His resignation follows the recent exit of Charanjit Singh Brar, former general secretary and spokesperson of the faction, who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.Coming from a “Taksali” Akali family, Brar said he regretted associating with the faction that has conspired to weaken the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) led by Sukhbir Singh Badal, thereby hinting his ‘ghar wapsi’.
