Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff paid tribute to late Bengali star Suchitra Sen on her 95th birth anniversary.Born on April 6, 1931, as Roma Dasgupta, the actor died on January 17, 2014, in Kolkata due to a heart attack following a respiratory tract infection.Shroff shared a post on his Instagram story on Monday, which featured a black-and-white picture of the actor.“Remembering Suchitra Sen ji on her birth anniversary,” he wrote.Sen made her acting debut in 1952 with the Bengali film “Shesh Kothaay” and got her breakthrough with the 1953 hit “Sharey Chuattor”.Following her breakthrough, the actor went on to feature in several films and is known for her notable roles in projects such as “Devdas” (1955) and “Saptapadi” (1961).She was the first Indian actress to win an international award. She received the Silver Prize for Best Actress at the Moscow International Film Festival in 1963 for her film “Saat Paake Bandha”.Also known as the “Mahanayika” (Great Actor) of Bengali cinema, Sen redefined the portrayal of women in Indian films with her performances.
