With an eye on the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections, the BJP on Tuesday used its 47th foundation day celebrations to signal an aggressive political push in the state.The party held a rally at Surewal village near Anandpur Sahib.The event was attended by state BJP working president Ashwani Sharma, state vice-president Subhash Sharma, and district chief Ajayvir Singh Lalpura.The party leaders used the occasion to outline their roadmap and sharpen their messaging ahead of the polls with Ashwani Sharma endorsing Subhash Sharma’s candidature from the constituency, citing his work.Praising Subhash Sharma, he described him as a grassroots leader who remained connected with people despite electoral setbacks.“The BJP promotes leaders who stay in touch with the public. Our cadre is our real strength,” he said, adding that there could be no holier land than Anandpur Sahib.Ashwani Sharma said the BJP was preparing to contest the next Assembly elections on all 117 seats.He said the party had begun strengthening its grassroots network and positioning itself as a viable alternative in Punjab.“The entire country is progressing under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but Punjab has lagged behind. Only the BJP can bring the state back on the path of development,” he said.In a politically charged statement, he also said that the BJP was the only party that consistently raised its voice against the Congress over the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.He asserted that the party stood for justice and accountability, contrasting it with what he described as the Congress failure to address the issue adequately.Highlighting ideological positioning along with electoral preparation, he said the BJP remained committed to preserving Punjab’s social harmony while resisting attempts by foreign forces to create divisions in the state.He also pointed out that the Modi government had ensured the inclusion of the sacrifices of the Sahibzadas in school curricula across the country. Subhash Sharma reinforced the party’s 2027 vision, saying that the BJP aimed to eliminate mafia raj and the drug abuse from Punjab.
