Rapper-musician Badshah on Tuesday apologised to the National Commission for Women (NCW) for his controversial Haryanvi song “Tattiri” and vowed to work for women’s empowerment. Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia, popularly known as Badshah, had been summoned by the commission on account of promoting obscenity and vulgarity towards women through his music.The action was taken in response to several complaints alleging that the song had offensive and sexually explicit lyrics, and used undesirable imagery that could hurt and negatively impact viewers, particularly children. Along with Badshah, directors Mahi Sandhu and Joban Sandhu and music producer Hiten were present during the hearing at NCW.Presiding over the hearing, NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar said the lyrics of the song and its presentation hurt the dignity and decency of women, and directed the parties involved not to repeat such actions in the future.”I will work for the upliftment of women and society. I will submit a ‘positive’ song on women empowerment within four months and will not engage in any such activity in the future,” Badshah reportedly told the commission.Additionally, Badshah offered to sponsor the education of 50 girls from economically weak backgrounds. The NCW had also issued summons to actors Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt after taking suo moto cognisance of media reports over alleged obscenity in their recently released song “Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke” from the film “KD: The Devil”.
