Five persons were killed and one was injured after being run over by a truck on a highway in Madhya Pradesh’s Dindori district in the early hours of Sunday, police said.The incident occurred around 1 am on the Jabalpur-Amarkantak National Highway near Kikratalaab village under Gadasarai police station limits when the victims were returning home in a pickup vehicle, they said.A tyre of the vehicle got punctured, following which the driver started changing it and the occupants got out of the vehicle.“A speeding truck ran over them. The driver told us he dozed off and could not see the victims,” Dindori Superintendent of Police Vahni Singh told PTI.The truck driver claimed the victims were standing in the middle of the road, she said.Five men, including the pickup vehicle’s driver, died on the spot, while one person suffered injuries and was admitted to a hospital, the official said.The truck driver was arrested, the police added.
