A massive technical snag hit Jio Fiber services across the country on Sunday morning, knocking out broadband internet, WiFi and fixed-line telephone connectivity for lakhs of subscribers in what is being described as one of the worst outages since the telecom giant’s inception. The disruption, which began in the early hours, left consumers in cities and towns across India completely cut off, with no internet or landline access. Adding to the frustration, the MyJio mobile app — the primary portal for raising complaints and seeking customer support — also stopped responding, leaving affected users with no recourse to even log a grievance. When contacted, a senior functionary of Reliance Jio confirmed the nationwide disruption. The official said technical teams were on the job and services were likely to be restored shortly, but offered no explanation for the scale or cause of the snag. The breakdown triggered an immediate storm on social media. The hashtag #JioDown began trending on X (formerly Twitter) within hours of the outage, with irate consumers posting screenshots of dead routers and black screens. “The app is down, the website is not working and the Fiber WiFi is also down — what exactly is working?” wrote one user. Scores of others across Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Chandigarh, Pune and other major cities reported identical symptoms.Outage-tracking platforms confirmed the scale of the disruption, with complaint volumes spiking sharply through the morning. Internet monitor NetBlocks noted disruptions affecting users in Chandigarh, Punjab, Odisha, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Haryana, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu.Jio is the largest mobile network operator in India, with more than 500 million subscribers, making the scale of even a partial Fiber outage a matter of significant public impact. The Jio Fiber and AirFiber platforms together serve millions of home broadband consumers who depend on the service not just for internet access but for fixed-line voice calls routed through the network. This is not the first time the telecom has faced such criticism. A widespread disruption had also hit Jio services earlier this month, with users across multiple regions reporting severely degraded speeds and connectivity on both mobile and Fiber connections. Users had then flagged that even recharge systems and portals were simultaneously down. With technical teams still working to isolate and fix the fault, consumers were advised to monitor the MyJio app and Jio’s official social media channels for updates on the restoration timeline. No official statement had been issued by Reliance Jio at the time of going online.
